Fred’s Volunteer Mission
The mission of the not-for-profit Yes Pa Foundation is to assist young people and adults in developing positive character that includes a strong sense of control of one’s future, positive attitudes and perseverance. The Yes Pa program emphasizes integrity, determination and enthusiasm as keys to happiness and success.
Achievement and Flexibility
The Yes Pa program began in year 2000. With the belief, involvement and guidance of regional and national character education teachers as well as prevention specialists, Yes Pa is now a science-based proven and flexible program for 6th graders, freshmen in business schools, prisons for youthful offenders and mentoring organizations. The eight-minute testimonial video on the home page speaks louder than words about the success of this character-building program.
Is there any research evidence of the program’s effectiveness?
The results of two independent science-based outcome studies support the significant impact of the Yes Pa program. Students showed significant increases in their belief that they have control over their future and that positive outcomes are related to their efforts. They were also less likely to attribute their success to luck or other factors outside their control. Research has shown that young people, who believe in control of their outcomes, are more likely to pursue and be successful in education and are less likely to become involved in substance abuse and other problem behaviors. The ongoing mission of the Yes Pa Foundation is to:
- Seek partnerships, sponsors and grants for continuity and expansion of a free Yes Pa Program.
- Help middle school students, juvenile prisoners, kids with special needs and business students to believe in themselves and be the best they can be.
A quote for all of us to remember — “A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove... but the world may be different because I was important in the Life of a Child.” —Author Unknown
